AstronAcademics — Terms & Conditions and Privacy Notice

Last updated: June 2026 · Version 2026-06-v7

Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account or continuing to use AstronAcademics ("the Platform"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. AstronAcademics is a global study platform used by students in many countries; we aim to respect internationally recognised privacy and consumer-protection standards.

1. Who we are & governing law

AstronAcademics is a study-productivity platform for school and post-school students worldwide. AstronAcademics is based in India. We aim to comply with internationally recognised data-protection frameworks, including the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act/CPRA (CCPA) and other U.S. state privacy laws, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the Information Technology Act, 2000, and comparable laws in other jurisdictions. Where local mandatory law grants you stronger rights, those rights prevail. These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India shall have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer or data-protection rights available to you under the laws of your own country of residence.

2. Eligibility, minors & parental/guardian consent

The Platform is intended for students. Age of majority and the "age of digital consent" vary by country (for example, 18 in India, and 13–16 under GDPR depending on the member state, 13 under U.S. COPPA). If you are below the applicable age in your country, you may use the Platform only with the review and consent of a parent or lawful guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf and consents to the processing of your personal data. We do not knowingly collect data from children below the applicable age without such consent.

3. Your data & privacy (international)

  • What we store: account details, study data (subjects, chapters, notes, uploads, submitted work), community content, quizzes, and AI conversation history you create.
  • Why (lawful bases): to provide the service you request (contract), our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Platform, your consent (which you may withdraw), and to meet legal obligations.
  • AI processing: your prompts, attachments and shared knowledge-base submissions may be sent to third-party AI providers (e.g. OpenAI, Google) or, where you provide them, processed using your own API keys and cloud storage. You are responsible for any keys/accounts you connect.
  • International transfers: your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms).
  • Community & shared knowledge base: content you post publicly or submit for "training the bot" may be visible to other users and used to improve answers for everyone. Do not submit private, copyrighted, or sensitive personal information.
  • Your rights: subject to your local law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, port your data, and withdraw consent. GDPR users may lodge a complaint with their supervisory authority; CCPA/CPRA users may exercise rights to know, delete, correct and opt out, without discrimination. To exercise any right, contact the account administrator. Deleting your account removes your personal study data.
  • Retention & security: we keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, and apply reasonable technical and organisational security measures, though no system is perfectly secure.

3A. Cookies & on-device storage

To keep you signed in and remember your preferences, we store limited information on your own device (for example in your browser's local storage), including your login/session token, your chosen display theme (Dark, Light or Blue), your appearance and atmosphere preferences (such as rain intensity and speed, rain-sound on/off and volume, storm mode, snow/rain and seasonal "Auto" weather mode, time-of-day sky mode, and dark-mode aurora frequency), and progress indicators such as which streak milestones you have already been shown or celebrated. This information stays on your device, is not sold, and can be cleared at any time by signing out or clearing your browser data. We use only cookies/local storage that are necessary for the Platform to function or to remember your chosen settings.

3B. Location & weather-based theme (optional)

The optional "Match my local weather" setting, when you switch it on, asks your browser for your device location (you must grant permission) and uses your approximate coordinates to look up current conditions from a third-party weather service (Open-Meteo) so the app can automatically switch to the Blue rainy theme — and intensify to a storm — when it is actually raining near you. Your location is used in your browser only for this lookup, is not stored on our servers, and the feature is off unless you enable it. You can turn it off or deny/revoke the browser location permission at any time.

3C. Ambient sound

The Blue theme offers an optional rain-ambience soundscape that is generated locally on your device and plays only when you enable it. It involves no recording, microphone access, or data collection.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Platform, upload unlawful/infringing/harmful content, attempt to breach security, or use it to cheat in a manner prohibited by your institution. You are responsible for content you upload and share.

5. AI & educational disclaimer

AI-generated content and solutions (including AI-generated syllabus/chapter breakdowns and auto-detected topics/sub-topics) may be inaccurate, incomplete, or not perfectly aligned to your curriculum or board. The Platform is a study aid and does not replace your teachers, official textbooks, or curriculum guidelines. Verify important information independently. We make no guarantee of academic outcomes or exam results.

5A. Submitted work & Mentor review

You may submit photos/scans or documents of your work as proof of study. A Mentor (parent/guardian or authorised reviewer) may view, annotate (add marks/comments), rate (neatness, clarity, content) and save an annotated copy of your submission. Mentor ratings and feedback are guidance only and do not by themselves determine chapter/topic completion. You are responsible for the content you submit; do not upload others' copyrighted material or sensitive personal information. Submitted files are stored as described in Section 3.

5B. Community features — Hot Topics, Query & Quizzes, points & encouragement

  • Hot Topics: topics/questions you mark as important or "confirmed for exam" are your own or your account's opinion, are not official predictions, and may be wrong. They are shared within your account/community and are not a guarantee of exam content.
  • Query & Quizzes: questions, answers and quizzes you create are shared publicly with other users. Do not post copyrighted exam papers, leaked/confidential material, or personal data. You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of what you post; we may moderate or remove content. Quiz answers and scoring are for practice only and carry no academic authority.
  • Editing your content: you may edit content you authored (questions, answers, quizzes and Hot Topics). Edited items may be marked as "edited". Editing does not transfer ownership or delete our right to moderate, and we may still remove or restrict content that breaches these Terms.
  • Featured & spotlighted content: the Platform may automatically highlight community content to other users — for example a rotating "Quiz of the Week" spotlight or trending lists. By posting public community content you agree it may be featured, ranked, or shown to other users in this way, without additional notice or payment.
  • Leaderboards, reputation points & badges: points, streaks, streak-milestone badges, leaderboards and badges are gamification features with no monetary value, cannot be redeemed, and may be adjusted, reset, or removed at any time (including to curb abuse or farming).
  • Encouragement: mentor encouragement messages, streaks and milestone celebrations are motivational features only.

5C. Voice recordings (Oration & Business Mode)

When you use voice features — such as recording or uploading a speech for Speech Review, a voice pitch in Business Mode, or a spoken Debate Duo rebuttal — your audio is processed to help you improve:

  • Transcription: your clip is sent to a third-party speech-to-text provider (OpenAI Whisper) to convert it to text, which is then reviewed by our AI coach.
  • Replay storage: for Speech Review, your original recording is stored (using the secure object storage described in Section 3) solely so that you can replay it next to the AI feedback. It is private to your own account, is never shared publicly, sold, or used to train models, and is not accessible to other users.
  • Your control: you may delete any saved review (and its stored recording) at any time from the review history; deleting it removes the stored clip. Debate Duo rebuttal audio is transcribed for scoring and is not retained as a replayable clip.
  • Consent: by using these voice features you consent to this processing. If you do not wish your voice to be recorded or transcribed, use the text-input option instead. Only record your own voice and do not upload recordings of others without their consent.

5D. Buying Darkstars via UPI

Darkstars top-ups shown on the Plans page (for example a UPI ID or QR code) are provided by the site owner as a manual, off-platform convenience. Payments made via UPI are processed by your own bank/UPI app, not by AstronAcademics, and we do not collect or store your payment-card or bank details. After paying, you confirm with the owner via the in-app message. Darkstars are a virtual in-app credit with no cash value and are non-refundable except where required by applicable law; the owner credits them manually at their discretion once payment is confirmed.

6. Third-party keys, storage & costs

If you connect your own API keys or cloud storage, you do so at your own risk and cost. Usage consumes your own provider quota/billing. We are not responsible for charges, data loss, or issues arising from third-party services you connect.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Platform and its creators are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as certain consumer rights in the EU, UK and elsewhere). Subject to that, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Platform.

8. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by your local law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless AstronAcademics and its creators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your content, your connected third-party services, or your breach of these Terms.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. Material changes will require you to re-accept.

9A. Offline copy

You may download and save an offline copy of these Terms (for example as a text file) from the Terms screen so you can read them later without an internet connection. A downloaded copy is provided for your convenience and reflects the version current at the time of download; the latest version always governs your use of the Platform.

10. Contact

AstronAcademics is based in India. For any data or legal request (including privacy rights requests under GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, DPDP or other laws), contact the account administrator or email us at support@astronacademics.com.

By clicking "I Agree", you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions and Privacy Notice.
